High-Rate 0-5 mm Sand Production and Maximum Fine Aggregate Efficiency
The most critical stage that determines the final product quality in crushing-screening (crusher) and ore processing plants is the third, that is, the tertiary crushing stage. The production of high-quality, cubic form, and ideally graded 0-5 mm fine aggregate (sand) required by the ready-mix concrete, asphalt, and dry mortar (construction chemicals) sectors results in high costs and low efficiency when carried out with ordinary crushers.
Krismak Tertiary Crusher series has been developed to advanced engineering standards specifically for this need, to bring medium and high-hardness materials (limestone, river stone, basalt, dolomite, etc.) directly to “sand” size with high speed and impact energy.
Thanks to its high-speed bidirectional rotor, optimized internal crushing chamber, and adjustable crushing jaws, Krismak tertiary crushers maximize the fine material (sand) ratio in your plant while minimizing your operating and energy costs.
What is a Tertiary Crusher and How Does It Work?
A tertiary crusher is a third-stage impact-based crushing machine consisting of a counter-rotating (bidirectional) high-speed rotor and adjustable crushing curtains (jaws) symmetrically positioned on both sides of this rotor.
Intermediate-sized materials returning from the secondary crusher or from the screen oversize (generally between 0-50 mm) are subjected to the violent impact of the paddles (hammers) on the high-speed rotating rotor. The stones propelled by the rotor are rapidly crushed by hitting specially designed serrated anvil plates on the side walls of the crusher.
The most important operating principle that distinguishes the Krismak Tertiary Crusher from other machines in the industry is its high rotor speed (RPM) and narrow crushing chamber geometry. Since the material is propelled at high speed in an extremely narrow area inside the machine, the “auto-grinding” effect caused by stone-on-stone impact is maximized. This way, a high-quality sand ratio of 50% to 70% at 0-5 mm is obtained even in a single pass.
Flawless Technical Features of Krismak Tertiary Crushers
The Krismak R&D and engineering team has equipped the product with premium components to eliminate the high wear and dynamic loads that tertiary crushers are exposed to in job site environments:
Advanced Bidirectional Rotor: Our crusher’s rotor has the ability to rotate in both directions. This way, when one face of the paddles (hammers) wears out, you do not lose time stopping the machine and removing paddles; you can directly use the other face of the paddles by reversing the motor direction from the control panel. This system reduces downtime and doubles the paddle lifespan.
Precision Adjustable Jaw (Anvil) System: A mechanically or hydraulically assisted jaw adjustment mechanism that allows you to control the product output size and the fineness modulus of the sand at micron level. It creates a compression and impact zone close to mill logic, capturing a high rate of “dust and fine material” gradation.
High Chrome Alloy Wear Parts: Paddles, counter-impact plates, and inner side liners, where wear is most intense, are manufactured from high chrome and special alloy cast materials. They offer maximum service life even in the hardest rocks.
Hydraulic-Assisted Easy Body Opening: The body covers on both sides of the machine open conveniently with the help of hydraulic cylinders. Paddle replacement, liner checks, and periodic cleaning operations are carried out very quickly and in full compliance with occupational safety standards.
Heavy-Duty Bearings and Labyrinth Sealing: First-class heavy industrial type spherical roller bearings that perfectly absorb the heat and dynamic shocks generated at high speed, and sealing bearings with 100% protection against dust.
Wide Range of Applications and Sectoral Solutions
Krismak Tertiary Impact Crushers play a critical role especially in all modern crusher lines that have a sand shortage and supply material to ready-mix concrete/asphalt plants:
Ready-Mix Concrete Industry: Production of 0-5 mm concrete sand in cubic form with minimum void ratio and high adhesion strength, fully compliant with concrete formulas.
Asphalt and Road Infrastructure: High-capacity supply of fine aggregate and stone dust (filler) needs used in asphalt production.
Construction Chemicals and Dry Mortar Factories: Precise crushing of limestone, calcite, dolomite, and gypsum at micronized sizes.
Artificial Sand (Crushed Sand) Production Plants: High-quality artificial sand production from scratch from quarry stones in regions where natural sand sources are insufficient or prohibited.
